A poem about unemployment in today’s declining job market.
A nobody just tryin to be a somebody
But rejected and dejected
Society’s unaccepted
A job seeker
The light at the end of the tunnel lookin bleaker and weaker
The concept of “Supply and Demand”
My mind tryin to expand and understand
The situation at hand
9.5% unemployment rate in June
Confidence blown away from winds of the typhoon
The job market’s monsoon
And this statistical, mathematical, numerical gauge
An emerging symbol of unemployment rage
Boozed and confused
So frustrated I waited and debated
Cause it’s not everyday
This unique freak
Come knockin at yo door
So what the hell else could you want more?
I’m so sick of this ugly game of tug of war
The disinterest n unexcitment like I’m some unattractive little whore
And the 7.5 million individuals
The job forum’s residuals
Depressed and stressed, completely unimpressed
With the disappointing job postings well overdressed
The market’s uncertainty and insecurity
Playing with our minds and our once together lives
The question is how to survive
This grueling jive
How to revive
And keep our spirits alive
