The saddest thing in life is to see love fall apart.

We’ve been together
for such a long time

For years we have kept
our love affair a secret

Getting out in the open
means putting it to an end

Anticipating
its bitter consequences
Surprisingly, you made
an abrupt decision

You said, to refrain
getting hurt any further
You’ll be leaving soon
Never to be back again

How many relationships more
have to sacrifice and suffer
just because of differences
in religious affiliation?

It is a thought provoking poem and one that will never be solved so long as we are caught up in religious dogma. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all choose love as our religion? What a peaceful world we would have.

This is sad and should make us realize that we are all one.

This is a hard bridge to gap if our love is not for the same God. I believe that my God is Love and bridges all gaps.

Nobert your poem is beautiful and exquisitely sad. I hope it is only art, as I would not want to suffer so.

    Take care and God bless.

A very sad part of life that a love of God can keep lovers apart. A very touching poem. You are a man of many talents.

I like your poem. It is sad but it has something to say to the one you love… i felt that there is more you want to ask why… You are so inlove yet hurt at the same time

this brings to mind the scripture about following God not man. cultural/religious restrictions are man-made and have little to do with the reality of God. too often people pledge their loyalty to religion rather than only to God. the willingness to throw off (often erroneous)cultural conditioning takes a lot of courage and strength most people have yet to develop, and, rarely, two in sync at the same moment to achieve that goal of pledging love above all the consequences. good write and food for thought! ~ d
