A poem for my wife.
When you and I wed
There were some vows I said.
While I meant them then as well as now
There were many that were left out somehow.
Such as a promise to make things right
Whenever we have a fight.
And to try to make you smile
When you have many weights on your shoulders stacked in a pile.
I promise to surprise you with flowers and little gifts
Just to give your day a bit of a lift.
And if you ask me to buy you some sort of embarrassing product you need
I’ll buy it for you with pride; I’ll do the deed.
I will be your friend as well as your lover
And, just in case things get dull, new adventures I’ll help you discover
When you want to try something new, I’ll let you
I’ll do what I can to help you succeed but, if you fail, I’ll be there to hold you too.
Most importantly, I promise to remind you you’re beautiful and I love you every day
And I will be there for you, no questions asked, forever and always.
