Walking away from a loved one that’s behind prison walls.
Up the drive and through the gates, the long walk toward hell.
Anxiety with every step, her emotions run wild.
Inside the dungeon, given a seat awaiting his arrival.
Seconds seem like minutes. Minutes seem like hours.
Her heart beats faster with each passing moment.
With a distinct bang, the dungeon door slams. The time has come.
The world disappears. Just the two together at last.
Smiles are exchanged, cards thrown around, and stories are shared.
The clock seems to rush, it knows no time.
Just like that, she must go.
He takes her hand and leads her toward the door.
With a hug and a kiss he’s gone, just like that.
Down the walk and out the gate she waks with her head hung low and tears rolling down her cheeks
Her mind is blank, a broken heart is all that’s left for away she must go…. Until next Thursday.
