This is an untitled poem I wrote on 2-9-11.

I feel so sick and so helpless
So hopeless
To see my friend walk alone
But be too proud to look beside themself and see me
Always me
Always there

Even a candle can’t burn with out a flame
No soul is ever alone
They the candle
I the flame
To illuminate the darkness about them
And to provide warmth on even the coldest night

To look but not too see
And to scream and not listen to the echoes
Is to let Pride prevail
To see the fire but not the flame
Just another stranger on an empty road
Unknown and unknowing

It’s seeing a flower wither and die before your very eyes
Even when watered
And tended to every waking day
But it forgets your presence and mistakes your tears for their own
While nightmares become reality
And dreams a dying wish

Can everything that has been broken mend?
Can even the loneliest soul find a true friend?
Ask the proud but lonely candle and then notice the flame
They might both be different
But don’t we consider them the same?

Light to the darkness
Heat to the near
Know that when you look at me
Your heart can always find a home here
