I’ve always thought that Valentines & Christmas should last all year long. It’s easy enough to love someone at her prime but it’s more fulfilling to be cherished on days when you’re bloated, crabby & needing just a wee bit of botox to soften the scowl. I especially wrote this for all significant others because its truly “what a girl wants”.

Valentine goes beyond roses,
chocolates, candlelit dinners
and passionate amore.

All 365 days of the year love is –

a hug on a bad hair day,
a kiss for that first silvery strand,

laughter to perk my weary soul
and
papers cum remote control
on a ‘happy no-occasion day’,
are treasures set ‘round my heart
more precious than Tiffany’s solitaire.

How often we forget that
“I believe in you”,
“I’m sorry”’
“Thank you”,
 “I hear you”…
and even the gifts of silence & space
when the heart seeks stillness
also mean “I love you”.

Love may be crazy,
leaving you breathless in its wake –
it may last for a lifetime,
or swiftly move on.
But however it may find you today

Happy Valentine.
