A short poem on a heavenly battle.
Valley of Fire
by Christervitive
Two towers of earth stood on either side, 1
testament to nature’s force.
Terrible was that land, wrought with fire.
tormented with deep pits,
to battle here is certain doom to man. 5
Fire flings fast from the pits,
forcing all the land into frightful fear.
For here fiends from hell gather,
From other side flies the free angels from heaven,
for forces, good and evil, 10
come here to do deadly battle.
Coursing evil through their veins,
combat the fiends of hell bring forth to God.
countering their enmity,
clothed in glowing raiment of their God, 15
Angels return the anger,
answering with righteous holy fire.
alight with God’s glory fighting,
an end to the hellish fiends seems certain,
afraid, those from hell retreat. 20
Satan is not done, from mountain top calls
Staunch the flowing blood! Fight on!
Still Satan’s minions can not staunch the flow
So Satan steps from the mount
Steeped in hate, he can not fail, 25
he enters the battle ready to kill
against the angels he fights to no avail
the angles show their true skill
when Satan, they cleverly impale. 29
