A poem focused on social commentary.

Everyone here wears a mask garnishing a smile,
everyone here wears a face that cannot be defiled.

Emotions are not needed when your face is set in stone,
a fake passing moment with emotions to dethrone.

Dare not speak of vanity, dare not speak of love,
dare not speak of anything that removes the face above.

For we are happy, all of us happy in a world that all agrees,
that lying to ourselves is exactly what we need.

So, wear your mask proudly that never shows a frown,
so we can live together in a world that’s never down.

Cast out your human feelings, remove your precious thoughts,
we live in vast serenity where perfection can be bought.

No natural or rational, no imperfections please,
we dare not speak of any fault that brings us to our knees.

Perhaps one day this world will change we’ll wake up and ask about,
and we’ll tear off this veiled perfection, and let the dark creep out.

Until then my children please listen to these words very dear,
wear this mask that always smiles, and make the bad world disappear.
