Every year more than one hundred poets from all over the world meet in the beautiful colonial city of Granada, facing Lake Nicaragua.

More than 100 poets and poetesses from more than 59 differenct countries will meet and share in the enchanting city of Granada, Nicaragua, Central America.
This coming year, the poet, playwriter, and winner of Nobel Literature Prize, 1992, Derek Walcott will read his poetry in this international event. The renounced poetry of Robert Pinsky, Reynaldo Lacámara, Homero Aridjis, among others, will also be read in this poetry festival, whose motto this year is ´Poesía es Insurrección Solitaria,´ which translated would be something like Poetry is a Vibrant Act of Solitude.
Once again, the plethora of poems from Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas will be heard and enjoyed in different parts of Nicaragua, and particularly the streets of Granada. Floats, traditional folk dances, and cultural activities are held during the whole week. Everybody is wellcome to come, and even if you are not an experienced poet, you may get the chance to read your poem in English, Spanish, or any other language.
People from Granada look forward to hearing and meeting international poets. I hope to see in this beautiful city in February 2012. I recently translated into English the Gueguense: The First Character in Nicaraguan Literature.
