Explaining how someone could get caught up in violence.

We can easily forgive a child afraid of the dark
But what about a man afraid of the light
Born in a sea full of Great White sharks
The real struggle was knowing wrong from right
Trying to think the ends justify the means
It was the victory that was important, not the fight
Trying to live life like he was in movie scenes
His future was bound to end up less bright
Who knows what he could’ve achieved, what he could’ve done
If he didn’t run like a thief in the night from life
If he didn’t grow up where you gotta have yourself a gun
If he didn’t get caught up with gang strife
We are all products of our environment, so why so surprised?
In his circumstance, he was bound to pick up that knife
Try to look through his eyes, and maybe you’ll realize,
If you’re born into violence, violence becomes your life.
