Down a country road
Where the road turns left
You find that little house
Standing over on the right
With pasture all around
Four mimosa trees along one side
Great place for a kid to play
Under those four trees
Out behind the garden
The hay barn stands
That’s where Papa milks the cow
And grows the best black berries
Come inside and smell the good food
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fried okra,
Angel food cake, blackberry pie and cookies
That little table barely held it all
It could take all day
For us to get down there
Fudge squares always ready
When my sister and I got there
We slept on the screened porch
On warm summer nights
Stars so clear out there
Plenty of lightning bugs to catch
So I will put on a front porch
And grow a small garden
Plant a mimosa tree
For my granddaughters visits
