                                                            You are a treasure, indeed,

a rare discovery like a golden coin

long lost in the sand and then found

by someone who was just looking for colored shells.

                                                          Your courage and strength

are an inspiration for the traveler to go on,

little a small light in the far distance

late at night that says this is the way.

Your challenge is one no one wants,

but you meet it with good spirit and hope.

My mere irritations of the day-a sore knee,

a pulled muscle, a blackberry thorn stuck in my

hand-mean nothing when I think of you.

I quiet down and ignore the annoyance.
