She could never erase his beautiful face from her mind. He was a traitor who left her alone in the shadows with only his memory to hold. The torment of letting him go would be far worse than the all the years of pain that drove her to write volumes of madness in his honour.
Volumes of Madness
Hair long and golden, eyes sad and blue
Lips softly whispered, “I think I love you”
Tears fell so swiftly like rain from the sky
Voice of an angel could not say goodbye
Soul full of emptiness, heart full of pain
Mind held a face that would drive her insane
Memories never to tarnish to grey
Stories and poems of a love gone astray
Bookshelf of dreams that were nothing but dust
Lost with the lover that she could not trust
Ghost of a soldier who marched in the snow
Shadowed the sun of her world long ago
Haunted creations of paper and pen
Volumes of madness she kept ’til the end
