Poem about coping with cancer.
The sleepless nights that never pass,
The painful days have no sympathy
A crowded room of white and black
Wake me when it’s over
A bang on the wall, a scream, a shout
Waiting for the light to go out
Another day down, how many to go?
Wake me when it’s over
The hurt that makes my days so slow
Yet there is comfort in this pain
Tomorrow will come, same eyes, new hope
Wake me when it’s over
The needle that punctures my skin with angst
To fill my veins with poison
It travels around – a killing machine
Wake me when it’s over
The corridor light – the watchful eyes
They come to check on me
I’m not asleep, it’s not a dream
Wake me because it’s over.
