WALKING ON A SNOWY NIGHT

This evening as the sun settled
behind the winter hills,
the moon played peek-a-boo with clouds
and snow began to spill
like feathers from a night time sky
shaken from a goose down quilt.
Snowflakes tiptoe, softly whisper,
dance across my windowpane.
Evening came with cloudy skies
and its snowing out again.

Let’s go outside and take a walk
out in the falling snow
and catch the snowflakes drifting down
so lazily and slow.
Great big, giant snowflakes
are slow drifting from the sky.
Let’s go catch them on our tongues
as they float on by.
Come on. Let’s put on our coats and mittens.
It’s really not that cold.
Let’s go outside and take a walk
out in the falling snow.
Let’s walk across the meadow
to the edge of the evergreens,
watch as the snow designs for us
a fresh winter wonder scene
as snowflakes softly whisper,
brush our cheeks, eyelids and nose.
Let’s take a walk out in the snow.
It’s really not that cold.

I love it when it’s snowing
on a moonlit winter night,
when all the world seems quiet
and the earth is silvery white
and snowflakes dance and whisper,
seems wonderland delight.
Come on, bundle up. Let’s take a walk
across the meadow, in the snow.
We can make snow angels,
catch snowflakes drifting by,
even make a snowman
with a carrot nose and charcoal eyes,
put an old cap upon his head
and give him a great big smile.
It really is a lovely night.
Let’s go walking for awhile.
Let’s dance with the snowflakes.
It’s really not that cold
and snowy nights by the moonlight
are a wonder to behold.

If it weren’t bit scared of snow, I’d say that this is a beautiful description on a snowy evening. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely, lovely. I have lived in northern climates in Michigan and New York most of our lives so we have memories of doing just what you describe. It is a beautiful experience. We lived in Plattsburgh, NY for three years. That’s at the northern end of Lake Champlain.. We would travel down to Rutland, VT where my brother-in-law (and good friend from high school) was a Unitarian minister. Except for the digging out part, I really love living in those climates.
