The Owens River runs through the Eastern Sierra region feeding into Crawley Lake and providing water for the many cattle ranches.Like.

Like a lazy slithering snake
You wind, zig-zagging along
Until you emply into a lake
To no one do you belong.
Yet anyone can claim your prize:
Silvery trout to eat; cool water to drink.
Oh! You are a trickster!  Full of surprise!
A quiet gentleman or rogue rushing over the brink!
Babbling along you’re but a brook
Widening a bit, you’re a fast paced stream.
You’re more interesting than any book!
Along your side, I sit and dream
Sit and dream while you do your task
Watering the land and all who ask.
