Bringing attention to the similarities between a pool of hungry goldfish and online communities. Written by someone who wants more than brief vibrant connections.

Pieces of bread tossed in to a pool of hungry goldfish
They spin and surface to create
Ripples of motion forming
Beautiful temporary works of art
Then as quick as the starbursts form
They disperse with their
Appetites filled for the moment.
 The next piece is thrown
A new work created
Slowly the ripples soften
As appetites are filled
So seemingly are relationships formed here in this virtual world?
Pieces of ourselves given
Nibbled on until appetites are filled
And the next splash is heard
Wonderful random passionate acts
Desires satiated temporarily
Only to be left with the ripples as they pass by
Lead me to wanting something more
Than hungry goldfish!
