For my daddy fighting for all of our freedom in Afghanistan.

For us in the fifty states

Afghanistan is far

But for the families left behind it seems

Further than the stars

We know that it is a worthy cause

Our husband’s and daddy’s fight

But that thought doesn’t keep us from

Praying through the night

The parting day was hard to bear

His wife could hardly stand

His daughter was trying not to cry

His son clutching his daddy’s hand

His wife was stricken; full of grief

She so tried to be strong

But with her loved one gone for a year

The nights, they seemed so long

It tears apart good families

A terrible thing, this war

We’ll all be praying until we’re once again

A family of four

What a beautiful poem. And so very meaningful, when you know the author is actually living the poem.

What a good job. You are very talented. I also liked the Rainbow poem.

You must have gotten your artistic ability from your mother.

    Your proud uncle,

Noelle, make copies of this poem and if you can take them to a vetrens lodge, this poem is very heart felt and should be read by our veterns.
    Sigh, a proud american
