A mystery, a chimera or a nightmare…read and unfold!!!

That grave yard was serene.
In the midst of haunting silence, a grim lady walked in.
Her ashen face bathed in the light of her candle.
And I froze…there and then.

Anon she swept away.
And my heart bubbled to part, but in vain.
For I was stubborn to lie behind the grave.
And pry “Is she a witch or a dame?”

The weather was brazen cold…
Yet it didn’t evoke in her a shiver!
That precipice was nigh yet couldn’t shrink that lady.
From floating across into the thin air.

Her candle, held aloft, never flickered.
Though winds keened n blustered!
Even her tresses never swayed.
Though a breeze whirled and bristled!

My horror-struck throat let out a sigh.
And she swiveled her head towards me all at once.
Seeing thus … titanic tremors ran down my spine.
My teeth gnashed …doomsday was mine.

Convulsively I came out of my hideaway.

And in a haste ran through the grave…

While my heart pounded against my bosom.
And my legs juddered like a thunder.
A reproach so profound drove in my blood.
That why did I pry… why did I meddle?

Desperately I waited for the dawn to break.
But the night still gathered, averse to my plea.
Then a thought began to prey my mind.
Was that fair fiend chasing me?

Avidly I listened for the noise of her footsteps.
And I could only reflect an unsettling silence.
Moved! I looked behind while shooting through the woods.
My eyes goggled; she shaved past me, by heavens!

I halted…perspiring to death.
And clenched my fists to dealt her a blow.
But she sailed, unaware, into the darkness.
And then I gathered “I am left by my foe”.

Alas! I couldn’t see through the witchcraft.
That the horror was not at its last gasp.
It was a prologue to a more horrid play.
It dawned to me when I heard a sheer rasp.

Convulsively, I woke from my deep slumber.

And witnessed a crow calling out …

“Wake up dear…you exam is on the prowl!”

I rose… while my doomsday, the impending exam, lurched about!
