Societies restrictions displayed in the poetic ramblings of an 1980’s teenager.

The time goes by,

and you and I

sit silently

and quietly.

My arms are tied,

my brain is free.

I think of what its like to be

far away, within a sea

of troubleless and doubtless bliss,

just like it is when lovers kiss.

But this, I fear, can never be,

I’m drowned in thoughts of this great sea

that I will never enter in

and live a life of love and sin.

I wake up to the freezing dawn

and wish that I could be unborn.

But in this life of endless time,

like mountaineers that dare not climb

for fear of jagged rocks below,

we wait around for life to end,

that precious gift that God did send.

But here we are, just sitting here,

wasting time because of fear

of what might happen if we go

against the laws of human folk.
