Waiting to break away from my past and present and to freely sprint into my future. A change is on the way….

Watching, waiting, wishing, wondering

Something is coming, a change

I can feel it

Permeating the darkness

Where I dwell presently

In the shadow of another

A name I answer to but

That was never mine

I sit, watching and waiting

It’s close, the air smells different

Feels different, lighter, cleaner

The stench of past hurts and failures

No longer hovering

Above my head

Breathing is easier

Chains are loosening

Shackles falling away

Watching and waiting

For my freedom and future

I like the flow of this poem. What a great feeling when one releases the past. Trust and believe that good things will happen.

That must be such a great feeling after all the darkness you have been through. A really well expressed poem.

What a great write, how could you know that only today, this am, as a matter of fact, I’ve been looking into the existence of my surname. You wrote; “a name I answer to but was never mine”. This was a good write in a timely manner, Bravo Zulu to you.

@inuni – In my case, it refers to my married name. Unfortunately, I’ve never felt like anyone’s wife, yet I use my husband’s last name.
