Two years ago, a close friend of mine, her seven year old daughter, who’s nine this year, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Life changed, include ours, though we are not her kin.
However, miracles happened, she had her transplant and was recovering, but is still very weak physically.
Though she had stopped schooling for almost two years, but managed to catch up a little. Last Christmas, I heard some good news, she’s able to continue her studies in 2011 but with extra care to be taken. It’s a miracle to everybody and we are so much relieved.

Your presence at Christmas was a great present to us

Time is like rocket, nearly two years have passed

I remember two years and earlier, there were many laugh

Sad that happy moment always short, and don’t last

Our lives changed two years ago when hearing the news

That the lively and happy girl of yours was ill

Everyone was sad, other than frowning, nothing we could do

We gradually started to lose contact of you

Calling, email, messages did not seem to work

There were hardly any reply and we dare not disturb

So to the hospital we visited you for support

But you said it was inconvenient and we were told to stop

Your girl under isolation, our visits added to your stress

So we listened to you, while volunteering for bone marrow test

Too bad none of us could help in the transplant, nothing we could do

Minor financial aid the only we could help, but was rejected by you

Chemo was the only thing the doctor could do, the girl was in great pain

The sufferings was not on the girl alone, and they seem again and again

Falling of hair was not the only pain as hair could grow but the sight pierced the heart

Tears were like water tap, flowing any moment, dried and then back to the start

To temples, churches and also in the hearts all prayed for miracles

But miracles somehow have to depend on the will power of people

One day, we were told, someone’s bone marrow matched with your girl

The savior’s name was not told, as he was an international donor

Everyone again cried, but this round the crying was acceptable

Transplant was done, but with complication and the girl was weak

Negative feedback started to come from everywhere and everyone panicked

Extra care to be taken to the girl at home, so you decided to quit your job

Home tutoring was given to catch up slightly, though all other activities have to be stopped

It was a great miracle, she had passed the examination though she has stopped schooling

Another miracle, she is able to continue her studies this year, doctor confirmed, finally

Your presence last Christmas with updates of your girl made us relieved

Smiling in our hearts, we continue to pray that she gets well, that’s the main thing we wish

I do pray she gets better and better and that healing will be complete. It was so sweet of you to offer so much support for the girl and the family. An uplifting story to draw inspiration from.

We will pray with you star. This is one of those rare moments when you write serious stuff and of course, we take you seriously.
    You’re definitely a good friend.

Thanks friends for your support and kindness. I enjoy humor, but I also have my emotions, especially when seeing kids suffering, moreover, this friend is one of my close friends, we used to share happy moments together.

I am so happy that this child recovered. I had a nine year old pupil in my class a few years ago who contracted leukemia. He had a transplant but didn’t recover. It is so sad when children become so sick. A very beautiful and haunting poem.

From what I know, there are many uncertainties even after transplant are done successfully as the patient is weak, most activities cannot be carried out, also the food selected must be very careful also.

The power of prayer. When everything else is done, its all left to hope for the best. I pray that your friend’s daughter makes a full recovery and live her life as any normal child would. Stay strong for your friend StarP. My best wishes for the family in need.
