Water is vital for our survival. We cannot live without it.
Water that liquid
That we all love to drink
Occur in rivers, lakes
Streams, seas, and oceans
Most of it is colorless
And transparent
At times it appears brackish, blue
A bluish green from algae
Or muddy from silt
Water falls from the clouds as rain
When it pours
We say it’s raining cats and dogs
When frozen it forms ice
Which adds quite a delight
It’s used to cool drinks
As platforms for competitive sports
We ski, play ice hockey, ice skating
And bobsled in winter
Some countries like the Netherlands
The United States and Guyana

Use dikes as embankments
Made of reinforced concrete to prevent flooding
Water is part of our urine, saliva, tears
Gastric and pancreatic juices
We use it for irrigating fields, crops
And nurturing plants
Our eyes fill with water or we cry
When we become sad or hear bad news
Some people have built their homes
Near water because of its serenity
One thing is certain
We can’t live without it
