This is a poem that I wrote after the September 11th events. I was only 17 years old.

We lived in fear our desperate hour

As we saw the crumbling towers

We lived in fear and took a blow

Foundation shaken to and fro

We lived in fear the sky above

Was darkened by the rising smoke

We lived in fear for those who cried

Who lost their loved ones in the fires

Oh stars we know you wept

For those who died within the wrecks

Oh sun you were so bright

Upon the planes

Death taking flight

In the sky course unknown

To the towers they were flown

The Pentagon a thing of strength

Was somewhat wounded by a plane

The twin towers standing tall

Took many lives upon their fall

The President

God preserve

Raised morale his voice was heard

We did prevail we stood strong

We fought back we did not fall

Terrorist’s cowards all

Could not stand they were not strong

Osama Bin Laden gutless coward

Was so easily overpowered

The Taliban temporarily broken

No longer spreading evil unspoken

Anthrax virus air or powder

Struck the nation with its power

An envelope

A simple letter

Silent killer, nothing better

Allegedly sent from a school

By an evil heartless fool

We still weep for those who sleep

Forever lost but still we keep

Them in our hearts and in our minds

As they go on to better lives

Free from pain in their slumber

They no longer have to wonder

What will happen in the end

They float along upon the wind

Free from evil free from fear

Free from sorrow free from tears

Along the road that weaves and wends

They’ll find their way home in the end

Temptation gone, release at last

The hard times of their lives have passed

No longer do they fear the day

That death will come take them away

For into heaven they do go

Laughing singing they will know

That they are safe, free at last

They fly away hand in hand

Onward to the Summer land
