Damn Triond all my articles were thrown to AuthSpot.
A month ago, I decided to create my own website that is dedicated for discussing anything under the sun. At first the site is intended only for my fellow Filipinos until I realized that the website is slowly going global, hence I decided to make it free for all.
Prior to the creation up to the publishing of my website, I encountered lots of trouble that I almost stop the intention of creating one.
I registered my domain name under www.littlepinoy.com for $10 then I searched for a great web hosting company online. Though I already knew that it is recommended to have both the domain name and the web hosting provider be subscribed from the same company but I opted to choose the other way.
I encountered absolutely no problem with my domain registrar and for me it was great.
Then a day after, I applied for a web hosting plan and integrated it to my newly registered domain.
At first everything was perfect until the time when I published my site content. I spent almost 36 hours developing my site and when its homepage was ready to be published, all I got was error during the process. I submitted a support ticket to the technical department of the said web hosting provider and to my surprise I got nothing even a single word from them. I waited for another 2 days, but still I have not received any response at all.
Then I wrote the company’s billing and sells department showing my intention to avail for the money back guarantee clause that was discussed prior to the subscription of service. They replied immediately, however, they were asking me series of questions that were very annoying- considering that they really wanted me to continue the subscription.
Finally my decision to get my money back was considered but they refused to give me the exact date on when they are going to give the refund.
To my dismay, I contacted paypal to open a dispute (since the transaction was done through it), but unfortunately enough Paypal did not even help me since they considered my case as isolated and the dispute was allegedly service and not product related.
Desperate to have my money back I kept on sending them requests until such time that they refunded the amount. And the suppose no question ask money back guarantee was totally a lie.
It was a terrible experience that should have been prevented if I only subscribed under one company that will cater the entire pre-requisites (domain name and Web Host) ,of creating a personal website.
