My hubby and I decided we needed to do something together to improve our fitness. He was very entertaining.

We’ve Taken up Swimming

We decided to go swimming this morning.

Our pool lets the oldies in free.

They want to encourage more fitness

A good idea I think you’ll agree.

I haven’t seen my hubby so excited

As he viewed the ladies with a gleam in his eye,

And he entered the water with a manly strut,

Hoping they would think him a handsome kind of guy.

Unfortunately no one had told him

That he was entering the deepest part,

And he disappeared beneath the foam

Then came up trying to look so smart.

As he coughed and spluttered discreetly

His face turned a deep shade of red,

And he struggled to keep himself afloat

As the deep water he had to tread.

Once recovered and rather subdued

He began to swim the twenty lengths he’d set.

But his speed was so slow that the ladies behind

Made him feel he was under threat.

He decided a Jacuzzi would suffice,

And when I returned from my swim,

He was in there with six lovely ladies

And entertaining them with much vim.

I love how you write poetry with fact mixed in with whim
But worry not about other ladies, you’re the only lady for him!

  • Hugo La Rosa on Aug 6, 2009

If that is fact mixed with truth, and if it is truth the anecdote about the six ladies, I wonder if you are not upset. Anyway, I believe it’s just a funny poem. Otherwise, the story-poem is excellent. Best Regards, Hugo.

Christine, men are so easy to see through. it’s a good thing for us they don’t know it.They would be much more discreet. fun poem.
