The things I want most may not seem like much (or very important) to others….

What do I want? Not much, really
Sunshine, blue skies and beds of roses
Fields of wildflowers, colors in full bloom
Sunsets on the beach on a mid-summer’s night
And stars twinkling against a blanket of black
Candlelight and music mingled
With whispers of love, adoration and admiration
A hand to hold when life turns scary
A shoulder to cry on whenever I’m sad
A faithful friend who will never betray me
Promises kept and obligations met
Meaningful conversation and side-splitting laughter
Adventure and excitement; new challenges to meet
Peace of mind amidst a world of chaos
A sanctuary and a refuge and joy, unspeakable
Health and healing for my war-weary body
A clear path to follow, a plan for my life
An inner strength, courage to change my future
In the grand scheme of things
When so many clamor for fortune and fame
Power and prestige are not my goal
So what is it that I want? Not much to some
But it’s everything to me
