Poetry.
There is no way to keep it on
If I don’t watch it will be gone
It just falls off everyday
It’s so loose it will not stay
.
It means so much that little thing
But is it still a wedding ring
The vows were broken months ago
She cut me loose and let me go
.
But my promise was so strong
My heart won’t believe she’s gone
But that ring won’t let that be
It keeps falling off of me
.
More than half of me is gone
My bony fingers seem so long
I’ve changed so much from head to feet
My aching heart won’t let me eat
.
I’ll put a little tape on it
Just enough to make it fit
I don’t want to see it go
It’s all I have that I still know
.
I’ll have it with me when I die
I said I would and I’ll try
I’ve tried to keep so many things
But all I have is this ring
