What happened I wondered

how odd my life I learned

as I was leaving the Midwest

for the south where I lost rest

from one night into another one

tears fell out like the rays of sun

upon the sky each morning’s dew

I’d make a poor choice and knew

that the rough journey ahead of me

taken in just small doses would prove

that the road I took I wanted to move

back to where I left felt no longer right

to return at that moment in time be bright

so I dealt with the hurdles that came along

while I longed to listen to my favorite song.
