A short saying oft contains much wisdom.

1.       Life is a wonderful thing to talk about, or to read about in history books – but it is terrible when one has to live it.

 

2.       Men cling to life even at the cost of enduring great misfortune.

 

3.       A living dog, is better than a dead lion.

 

4.       How good is man’s life, the mere living! How it to employ/ all the heart and the soul and the sense forever is joy!

 

5.       We are involved in a life that passes understanding and our highest business is our daily life.

 

6.       Men must live and create. Live to the point of tears.

 

7.       In living and in seeing other men, the heart must break or become as bronze.

 

8.       There are men here ang there to whom the whole of life an after dinner hour with cigar; easy pleasant, empty perhaps enlivened by some fable of strife to be forgotten before the end is told.

 

9.       A minute to smile and hour to weep in, A pint of joy to a peck of trouble, and never  a laugh but the moans come double; And that is life.

 

10.   We do not live an equal life, but of contrast and patchwork; now a little joy, then sorrow, now a sin, then a generous or brave action.

 

11.   Life consist in what a man is thinking of all day.

 

12.   Life is short affair;/ We should try to make it smooth, and free from strife.

 

13.   Irony and pity are to good counselors; one, in smiling, makes life pleasurable; the other who cries, make it sacred.

 

14.   Life is half spent before one knows what  life is.

 

15.   There is only one meaning of life; the act of living itself.
