God tries us to make us more like Him.
What is man, that thou shouldst try him?
Just a child of dust am I!
But I’d go, live for the Father.
I would serve him, or I die!
What is man, that thou shouldst try him,
And would set on him thine heart?
By My grace, I’d deem to use thee,
Tried and cleansed in every part!
What is man, that I should try him?
Shall I not my vessel try?
Try and prove by many fires,
That my gold be purified!
What is man, that I should visit,
Condescend to come down low?
Knowest thou not the common vessel,
Is that through which my power may flow!
Oh, to place at his disposal,
That which we do hold and love.
What is man that He should try us,
Vessels He would seek and prove!
