The author has been asked this question several times recently and thought it would be fun to put the answer to verse.

“What is a nutuba?”
Of late I’m often asked
From warm shores of Aruba
To northernmost Alask’

See, N is for Nebraska
And U, University,
And If someone should ask ya,
They gave me a degree.

Big Red, the Cornhuskers –
Best football in the land.
I, in my five years there,
Played tuba in the band.

The “Scarlet and the Cream”
And I, a “Big Horned Boy”
Fulfilled a childhood dream
And gave me pride and joy.

And so it’s N-U-TUBA
But you can call me Joel.
My old horn can still oom-pah,
I love it, heart and soul.

Nice explanation in the form of a poem. Tom Osborne and the Big Red dominated college football for many years. Before Dr. Tom was Dan Devine who started the football legacy at Nebraska. Being a big red man yourself, i know that your very familiar with these names. Nebraska has an ole LSU boy who i think will eventually get them back to elite status in college football once more. thanks nutuba

BOOOOOOO!!! I’m sorry, but we can’t be friends anymore. :) I am a CU fan. And you know the rivalry history there. I have some neighbors, though, that I’m sure would just love you!! How could I have been so taken in?? I mean I had figured out the tuba part, but NU. OMG. From now on, you will be addressed as only Joel by me.

  • Westbrook on Jan 25, 2009

Thanks for straightening that out, however,I would have to take exception to Cornhuskers being tghe best in the land… but that’s okay. We all have our favorites.
