A poem about life for anorexic sufferers.

Calorie counting, pavement pounding,
Ignoring the hurt that is surrounding.
Wanting to be thin,
Wanting to lose weight,
In love with anorexia, our mate.

If only you could know,
How hard it is to let go
of this lifestyle choice,
chosen by an inner voice.

Everyday is a battle and a fight,
Living out an anorexic blight.
But even through this turmoil,
our life we will not let it spoil.

This is why we fight,
a battle with every bite.
Although we love our disordered friend,
we do not want our life to end.
So we struggle and fight every hour,
hoping we will keep our power.

The key is the perseverance,
constant unfading vigilance.
Living on the edge of anorexic traps,
we cannot afford a relapse.
Blips are ok, they happen in normal life.
But we cannot allow them to continue,
Not while we balance on the blade of this knife.

Very nice poem. You described the battle with food very well. Society paints a terrible picture of how the perfect person should look. This is why we struggle inside. Good work.

very well said, this is an eye-opener. Visions like these make everything worthwhile.
