What you think you know.

People think they know me for myself,

but truly I am some body else.

Think they now me for who I be,

but in truth they do not see,

that to know who I am takes a fee,

I need to know who you be.

Are you an acquittance?

A friend?

A foe?

If I left where would it go?

Do you buy from me I sell to you?

No matter what I go through would

you do as I do?

If you want to know me for me,

who you are first I must see.

Keep writing you may never be famous or wealthy but your words will stand. I will offer you one tip though in your poetry try to stay on message. Do not write lines that are extraneous or without point. Have a message in mind that you are ultimately getting to. It is a good early work though.
