A poem reflecting on words spoken by a female scorned in her relationship with a gigolo. In retaliation to win her lovers approval she spews vengeance on any other woman trying to stake claim on her man and family. These words offer her only regret as she spoke them with malicious intent. Be careful what and how you say something.

Downfall Spewing “Whatever it takes…”

The one that allows these
Words to slip from their lips
Risks betrayal to the soul.

The statement in itself lacks
Boundaries, specifically moral
It fuels the scorned, restless
Seemingly helpless bruised ego

Lacks for the wellbeing found
In a more mature way
Of dealing with challenge.

There is much forgiveness to
Be asked of the people who
Are hurt from the one
Who spewed the cutting words.

It becomes a fight to hold
Onto what is really lost, old
But, whatever it takes bold
Undermines the very love stoled

Vengeance blinds and evil makes
A bed on which to lie
In damn disgrace and punishment
The soul is forced to cry

Bound in a fortress lack of trust
Collapsed the very shackled rust
Before the one you try to slave
Becomes a victim of callous rage

Stop and think , never do or say
“whatever it takes” when angry at
One person, a group, or the
world gone mad been known

To steer good intention away.

This one makes me want to go on a war path, of the good kind, like a venting party, those are always fun!!

Everytime I recall in reflection the person that said she would do ‘whatever it takes’, I read this (it sat on a dresser in a frame for awhile) and wonder when I wrote it how could I not feel elated that I do not see myself, nor let anyone see me that way. Feels good to not be one of those kind of women . . .
