A New Series where I display some of the poems I’ve written over the years.
SECOND LOOK
‘Butterfly’ by Michael Wallace
It’s amazing the many
Changing faces one can
Go through in this life
But it’s only the ones
You remember tomorrow
Are the ones you hold
Dear for life
Like yours
Not beautiful, not distinct
Or even one to pride
But it’s lack of those things
Get lost when you let out
That smile
Showing them all what I see
When I look into those eyes
A kind heart, a beautiful character
Displayed for all those mocking eyes
What a shame to never
Look past the picture
That first greets one’s eyes
Never knowing that a second look
Might reflect what hides
Just behind that tide
So I looked and I noticed
And now I know
That love’s hand
Can grab hold of anyone
No matter how they look
For beauty is just attraction
But character gets you through
All those faces in life
