Playing on the word up.

Stayed up late last night and upset my wife
Tried to kiss up and make up but not on your life
She was uptight and shut up the door to the room
Tried to think up a story sitting up in the gloom

Woke up this morning upright in a chair
My mind made up to get up and set up a fare
Fried up eggs and bacon and made up a tray
Whipped up a great breakfast to start up her day

To make up for messing up was surely my thought
Up the stairs to face up forgiveness I sought
Her face brightened up she sat up with a smile
That I’d surely give up she’d known all the while

Now I’ve written up what’s up so read up at your will
That I’m up to something you surely can tell
So speak up or call up, write up, have your say
A comment will lighten up and make up my day.
