When we cared they were too blind to see…

Why do they continue to hold on to us?
Why can’t they see it’s in vain?
Selfishly wanting what they cannot have
They’re only extending their pain
Stubborn refusal to accept the facts
Pointing their fingers as saints
Living like children in spoiled ego
Without any sense of restraint
Meanwhile we offer those things true and fair
While they point their nose to the sky
Pompously strutting as if they are right
Now, only now do they cry
Where was their care when we asked them for it?
Over and over each day?
Then when we cared they were too blind to see
The love that we tried to convey
So now we will fight and our families will harm
Because of their ignorant brain
Reject what we give and live their life in grief
They must be addicted pain
But I have grown further, by seeking the truth
And humbling my heart before God
I reject that pain that I’ve lived with so long
Never again a facade
To live in the light full with nothing to hide
Drops all of the chains off of me
The joy that you bring as we tarry this road
Makes me happy I guarantee
Regardless of where they will take us in hate
I know I will always have you
Their pain it will grow as ours slowly subsides
Because in our love, pain subdues
