When a mother dies, daughters feel alone and abandoned.
My mom was very ill with lung cancer.
I have two sisters and a half brother.
They never called nor came to see me
when mom was dying.
They were very cool and aloof.
When she died, there was a violent
thunder storm that shook the ground
and the windows in my house.
The loud and deafening thunder
lasted from midnight until early
dawn.
The day of her wake was a
morbid, dark, rainy, thunderous
day.
They tried excluding me from viewing
her body at the funeral home. But
they couldn’t control that, too.
I got in and viewed for two hours.
They don’t know this.
When I left the funeral home, the
sun shone brightly between the
clouds. I felt the heat radiating from
the sun. Was that you mom?
Did you think I wouldn’t come?
I did!
Thanks for the wonderful
life I had with you and dad.
I miss that life! It was twenty-five
years ago.
When it was time to attend the
church service I went. Everyone
is allowed in church.
They cheated me out of the material
items she left behind after her death.
My half brother’s children received it
all. I was denied everything.
They walked out with everything.
They took all the money too.
I was left a pauper.
Mom, I wonder if you knew what
was happening.
They walked away with everything
and left me naked.
Thanks Mom for everything.
