Leaving a legacy of good works and kindness toward your fellow man.

When all is said and done

And the final curtain falls

Will someone say about you

That you answered every call?

Did you try to love your neighbor?

Did you do all that you could

To help someone who needed it?

Did you strive for doing good?

Did you treat each human being

As you’d have them to treat you?

Or did you trample over them

As many often do?

Did you touch someone along the way?

Reach out and make a friend?

Did you lift somebody’s spirits?

Help a broken heart to mend?

What will they say about you

When at last you’re laid to rest?

In each area of your life

Did you do your very best?

Change the outcome starting now

Your legacy, rebuild

So that when all is said and done

Your purpose was fulfilled.

Wonderful piece of poetry! We often focus too much on our mistakes and overlook the little good things that we do in life.

    No, no, no, no, no!

    Poor structure.

    Inept execution.

    Here’s a real poet.

deep blue – That is just the response I want from readers. I’m hoping that we will all look at ourselves and ask if we are honestly doing our best to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
