Our changing expectations through out our lives.
When I grow up I will be a bus driver,
And maybe I’ll be a fire firefighter,
I will honk the horn, and work the door,
And smile at everyone on board!
Or I’ll put out fires, every flame,
Everyone will be so happy that I came!
That’s just silly, I will be a vet,
And I will take care of every pet,
I‘ll fix all the animals that I see,
And maybe take some home with me.
But I’d rather be a sports star more,
And kick those goals, and make those scores.
I’d be better than all the rest,
Cause you can’t be better than the best.
I still like sports, but am not too great,
So I’ll go to college when I graduate,
I’ll get a scholarship, and study hard,
And I really hope I get a car.
I’ll work part time, to pay tuition,
It’s gonna be hard, but I’ve got ambitions.
I’ll take the bus, to save on gas,
Plus I don’t have that car, or cash.
Well, I’ve met someone, and we‘ve discussed,
Becoming much more serious.
I’ll work full time, cause life ain‘t free,
And eventually go back for my degree.
Now we’ve saved some money, to be wed,
And soon we’ll need a baby bed.
My futures no longer mine alone,
I want to support our growing home.
Our children’s future is what matters to me,
So now we’ll save for their degrees.
My life has changed throughout the years,
My goals aren’t as simple as they appeared.
But, when I grow up, just like I‘d claimed,
I’ll put out fires, every flame.
