A Narrative poem about the search for love.
When Love Surrenders
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
How many times must I knock on the door to be answered?
How many doors must be answered to let me inside?
How many times must I sit on a chair waiting for you,
before you find me; me sitting there patiently, hoping?
How do I recognise you when you approach,
know that it is you I’ve been waiting for?
How do I say what has long rested in my heart,
what I have secretly longed for.
How will you know it’s me,
the arrow in your heart.
Will I be so familiar, my soul your lost half,
your completion awaiting surrender.
Will I fall immediately to your love,
your longing dark eyes beckoning release?
Will my heart ache to be near you,
in the presence of my rightful place.
I can only know that if love is right it will shine,
and I, within its radiance, will still my heart,
and find the peace that has long eluded me.
Will you be the one?
