The Devil would invade us, and he knows our weak points! Beware!
If the Devil would invade us,
When we’re of a certain mind.
He knows temperament would aid us,
Shuns encounters of the kind!
Some men, when distressed, despondent,
Satan would attack them then.
Knowing they would be respondent,
Just as he would desire of them!
Others in a jubilant spirit.
They would spark and catch the fire.
Then another soul would hear it,
Thus fulfilling his desire!
Certain, when they’re vexed and tossing,
Almost anything will say.
Other people’s senses crossing,
And old Satan would have his way!
Others are in placid waters,
Lo, there comes the Devil’s ship,
Ere to take these sons and daughters,
On a moment’s pleasure trip!
Certain heats for certain metals,
Where they each in turn should be.
What is right for one is fatal
To another man’s purity!
The chameleon watching for prey,
Takes the color of the grass!
So the Devil would have his day,
Whenever certain moments pass!
Some men only would be tempted,
When we’re found to be alone.
Others then would be exempted,
But when joined, the danger’s done.
Some men who are rich in money,
In this snare, he’d catch their feet.
Others wish they had such honey.
Fall to this temptation sweet!
As a fisherman by trying learns,
To know the favorite bait.
So the Devil knows where our metal burns,
And patient, watches, waits!
Oh, beware, who have no calling,
Nothing that on earth you do.
In his snare, oh, be not falling,
Whose desire would be on you!
