An original poem by Aubrey Lambach.

I don’t want to be the hand you hold,

Or own the lips you kiss.

I want to be what you could have had;

My name, the name you miss.

I wanted to be your beacon,

To guide you with my love.

But you pushed my love away,

My heart you didn’t hold but shoved.

You couldn’t see it,

Or wouldn’t see it,

The love I had to give.

But the moment I’m gone

You ache and tremble,

Dying slowly,

For you needed me to live

Now I’m broken,

fragile,

Raw and stranded;

Hurting and alone.

And there you stand,

Proud and pain-free,

My soul

You still own.

Am I Faustus?

What did I sign

That took from me

And gave to you?

I guess it only

Goes to show

That when

You love you lose.
