Only one of the ten lepers cleansed came back to thank the Lord, but where were the nine? Similarly, where were the disciples when Jesus was on the cross? And where are you? Are you among the thankful few?

Eleven good men in the story you find,
As everything’s going well.
One man in and out, who when present at last,
The others the story must tell!
Then the hardest time comes, when the Master must die,
And there’s one man beside Him still.
Of eleven good men, one has cursed Him and gone,
Now his time’s come, and He must be killed!
But where are the nine who refused to be there?
Are the fishermen searching for food.
Is Matthew collecting their taxes again?
One’s a devil, but where are the good?
Oh, where are the men who had laid down their nets?
Have they taken them all back up?
Oh, where are the ones to whome He had asked,
Are ye able to drink this cup?
If they can’t even get to the Cross on the hill,
Oh, how can they ever get on?
If they can’t even get to the top of the hill,
Can they echo his, “Father, It’s done!”
