Where has the sunlight gone these days? In the past few decades, clouds have parted, but real sunlight has yet to be seen.

What if time slowed down?  What if people stopped discriminating?  What if racism disappeared, consciousnesses around the world cleared of hatred and memory?  What if we stopped hating?

What if we stopped, what if we stopped what we started?

What if hatred disappeared for even just a day- would that be the equivalent of a sun’s ray?

What if children didn’t have to fear going to school?  What if people didn’t have to fear the world?  What if religion stopped misguiding so many people?  What if we stopped hating people because of their race?  What if stereotypes stopped being used?  What if those that stereotyped were stereotyped?  How would their sentiment change?  What if the world had been born without hatred?  What if the world hadn’t had slavery?  What if Jim Crow laws hadn’t been legislated?  What if invisible racism wasn’t hidden in the offices of corporations?  What if invisible racism was seen against a black and white screen?  What if more prejudices were caught?  What if less racism came out of the minority?  What if less racism came out of the majority?  What if it all froze, and was pushed away?  What if those that hate could smile at those that don’t?  What if those that hate had hearts?  What if those that had hearts started to hate?  What if the world was different?

What if we stopped, what if we stopped what we started?

What if hatred disappeared for even just a day- would that be the equivalent of a sun’s ray?

What if the truth wasn’t swept under the rug?  What if racism stopped hiding, stopped hiding in places least expected?  What if we thought of other people instead of ourselves?  What if the oppressors put themselves in the shoes of those oppressed, and not in the shoes of the oppressor?  What if the world changed, what if we changed what we started?

What if we stopped what we started?

What if hatred disappeared for even just a day- would that be the equivalent of a sun’s ray?

Rain, rain, go away…Let the sun come out!

It would be the brightest day the world has ever seen. Maybe we will see it in the far future.

You said it, Ruby. Fresh, we all hope for that. Sometimes the place we have to start weeding is in our own hearts, but if we all work at it…I think we can make the sun shine.

What if we didn’t have a positive for every negative? We would not feel the joy of VICTORY!!!Times are changing!!! You know what Fresh? The sun shines on you! You always give me hope and most of all inspirations! Many, many days I have been prompted by your writing and pics to write and write. I know that when I read your writing each day I will start planning what I will write next! That ray of hope is my silver linning behind that cloud. Keep the sun shine coming!

    Hello Fresh,

excellent poem. When that day comes the world will be a wonderful place and it will be the brightest day the world’s seen since before humanity if not ever. I agree with Daisy, if we keep working at it we can make the sun shine and we can make that day come.

    Thanks,

Hello there young Man,the world has become a richer place with the wisdom that you bring and the values and the dreams within your heart. Never under estimate the powerful influences of youth, as I was once there too without the blessings that are part of you. I am delighted I arrived at your place of work.May the day within your poem be never far away so all may inhale a fresh breath of what the world should be like.
    universal blessings
    Wonderful work

Your emotions on social structure, its ailments and the possibility of change are very well brought out.

Amazing…your contemplation of each word in your poem said more than you can initially see. Very profound…Tell me what you think of the one I wrote on here entitled…’Journeys’
    One Love.

Great article. I don’t want to be a pessimist, but we probably won’t see this kind of love in our lifetime. Discrimination and racism have existed from the beginning of time. We can always hope for change.
