It was an exotic blooming bough of flowers Coveted by many but to me Just another branch of flowers on The trunk of an alien tree I knew it was orchids abloom Had read of their popularity and beauty But had seen it on the braided hair Of many a rural dancer So apart from a casual gaze For it I never a thought spared
And lost in my ignorance I lived Until I had a strange dream In it I saw an exquisite maiden With an aura of light all around like a corona And voice like a soft whisper of wind I strained to catch the words “I am the orchid that blooms in anonymity In your garden and weeps for your indifference I am a bloom of love and beauty With emotions delicate and fragile I have deigned to bloom in your garden And brought you a blessing in disguise My breathe fragrant and soporific My petals drenched in colours of Natures pastels Bring to your threshold the gift from heaven One you have craved for years For I am the blossom of fertility and virility An omen blooming to bless you with a child’ As tears of ecstasy rolled down sleepy eyes I prayed for the orchids whisper to come true
And true it turned out to be After nine months with bundle of ecstasy In my arms content and blessed I went to the church altar Where the orchids smiled in purity With petals touched by the blood of Christ I stood whispering a prayerof gratitude When the wind whispered in my ear I opened my eyes to see The orchids blooming there winking at me…
