The flag it whispers

A patriot’s hail;

of battles fought,

of soldiers dream.

No matter it be torn or tattered,

Discolored or haggard,

The message rings clear

of heroes now and of yester-year.

To stand and listen,

For some tears do glisten,

For in the wind a story is told;

of freedom found and battles won,

of heroes born and stories bold.
