A person must strive to be the person they say. No phonies and no lies. Don’t paint yourself up to be something you aren’t for personal gain.

Who am I really – not to sound silly,

but do I portray myself to be

who I say that I am?

Or, do I come across as a scam?

I do not wish to be a hypocrite.

Nor do I wish to be a dim-wit.

Truth is the key

to exposing your identity.

A liar exposes his true breed,

and that my friend is greed.

I want to be set apart

from those with a blackened heart.

Scam artists are good at what they do.

Their victims are intended to be me and you.

It doesn’t matter who.

They are liars in disguise,

but we must be wise.

Learn their tricks,

and verbal mix.

Pay attention, and ask them their name,

to make sure you are ahead of the game.

Make notes on everything they say.

No personal information should be given away.

Make sure it is the truth that they say.

Who am I really, not to sound silly?

I do not portray myself as a hypocrite or scammer.

In no way or manner.

DB – Glad to hear you are the real thing…not a hypocrite or a scammer…unfortunately the same can’t be said for everyone on Triond but, sadly, there are bad apples in every barrel. Enjoyed this poem…as I do with all your rhyming work. Thank you.
