Who People Are

The course of human life is measured by success,

a paradigm on which we base our judgement.

However more than not it is financial gain that centres focus,

rather than the personal traits that make a life remarkable.

Success on that superficial level of wealth and notoriety,

can only revere the workings of capitalism, not people.

Who we are, and our connection with people,

is a far greater measure of a human life.

We can be revered for our talent, our expertise and mind,

but how we impact on others and the world, to me is success.

Beyond definitions it is our personal interpretation that matters,

How we determine personal success.

No politicians, religious leaders, movie stars or athletes,

should gain the highest tributes in life.

It is the silent shadows of humanitarianism and service,

that deserve the respect and accolades of success.

Why do we equate fame and notoriety in entertainment

more worthy of the trappings and respect of success?

How has our judgement become so petty

to acknowledge the superficial over true human sacrifice and service?

Success is a subjective term used differently in application,

a term with which we ourselves define meaning.

To me, we should all stand tall and acknowledge living

and our expression of it, as a success.

Who we are is far more important than and paradigm.
